In this SUV era where every major car company is working on their new SUV model, Volkswagen seems to have focused on an entirely different strategy, which is to improve their earlier launched models, include what customers think their car lacks, add new features and relaunch it and the new VW Polo GT TSI proves just that.
Speaking about the exteriors, not much has changed in the new hatchback. The car retains the same classic look as the outgoing model but with minor cosmetic changes. Since it is a "GT" therefore we expected that the car might sport fancy decals boasting about the car's GT-ness but to everyone's surprise there ain't any instead the car is seen sporting GT badges on prominent places the car's front grille, on the C-pillar and at the rear end of the car, which we think is enough to tell people that its a "GT". 'Estrada' alloy wheels and a rear spoiler adds to the car's GT-ness. Which we think is a very good decision by the company considering Indian car market.
Inside, the hatchback has a surprise for you, as soon as you open the door the doorstep sporting a GT badge welcomes you. The new Polo comes with black interiors, 3-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel with mounted controls and metallic pedals. But that's not all, this new 5-seater now also supports voice commands.
Under the hood the car houses a 4-cylinder 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine which churns out 104bhp at 5000rmp which produces a maximum torque of 175 Nm at 1500rpm, coupled with a 7-speed automatic gear box the car offers a superb pick-up of 0-100 kmph in under 10sec giving the GT TSI a top speed of around 200kmph, now that's fast!. The car offers a fuel economy of 17.2 kmpl.
With a price tag of Rs 8 lac, the new GT TSI comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, ESP, hill assist and rear parking sensors but lacks the rear parking camera.
