Chevrolet Camaro SS is here in India. The latest 2016 version of the muscle car was recently spotted undergoing real world road test right here in India. Speculations suggests the company is thinking about introducing the Camaro SS to the Indian car market in around 2016.
So does that mean Camaro will go on sale in India coming 2016 ? Well, honestly speaking we don't think so. Why? because India is not only an important market but also a crucial R&D hub for all major car manufacturing companies present till date. Therefore we think the car has only visited the country for R&D and testing purpose. Plus the Indian car market we think at present is not ready for muscle cars. But that's not the end the Indian car market is expanding its segments.
Few years ago SUV segment was also not popular but now every major car giant has either launched their India specific SUV or are presently working on it. Even big players like Land Rover, Audi, BMW and even Mercedes has also entered the Indian SUV car market. Since, the Camaro has been a winner where ever it was introduced and when it was first brought into the country at the 2010 Delhi Auto Show it proved to be a major crowd puller. Therefore the company might introduce the car in India as an experiment to test the response generated here.

If introduced in India, the car might go through slight modification to best suite the Indian car market. The car might include a refined muscular look with refreshed styling, high intensity discharge head lamps, glowing LED hallo rings and a revamped front grille. Interior might also get a luxurious upgrade. The new Camaro based on the new Zeta Platform might also feature some safety upgrades which includes StabiliTrak ESC, Traction Control, ABS and EBD.
Under the hood the car might offer two engine options, a 3.6 litre V6 engine rated at 312bhp @ 6500rpm and 278Nm @ 5100rmp and a 6.2 litre V8 engine rated at 426bhp @ 5900rpm and 278Nm @ 5100rpm. Both engines will be mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission option.
