A test mule of the new Mahindra Bolero was spotted undergoing real world road test. Codenamed U301 the new Mahindra Bolero will replace its earlier version. The present model proved to be a winner when it was launched back in 2000. The present model's secret to success is its simple and robust design, powerful engine and superior handling capabilities, all those qualities which a performance SUV packs. Bolero's great performance on the sales chart encouraged Mahindra to create an even better model. The new model aims at maintaining Bolero's dominance in the compact SUV segment.
This is not the first incident when the new Bolero's test mule was spotted, according to reports, this is the test car's 5th appearance. Reports also suggests that the company is not happy with the new model's fuel efficiency, therefore after every tweak a new model is sent out for testing. But the latest test car was spotted in its production ready form which hints that the car might be in its final test phase. So, if everything goes right, the new Bolero should hit the showrooms by festive season, which is around September this year.
Speaking about the exterior, not much has changed in this segment. The new bolero retains the same sabre tooth grille as the earlier model along with same side profile and tail door design. Revamped square-shaped headlamps, enlarged airdams with structured grille, refreshed bumper and a spare wheel at the back are some of the new design elements added to the new SUV. Inside, the car features new interiors with a black dashboard housing center instruments cluster with silver accents. Quality seats and brand new infotainment system are new Bolero's highlights.
Under the hood, the car may pack a 1.5litre 3 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. A four wheel drive system and a wider wheelbase to boost the car's SUV character. The car is expected to launch before Mahindra S101 and might come with a price tag of around Rs 7 lac. When launched the new Mahindra Bolero U301 will rival cars like Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.
