Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Compact (XA Alpha) Launched in India

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza aka XA-Alpha

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was finally launched in India today that is on 8th March 2016. The compact SUV comes with a price tag of  INR 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bookings for the Vitara Brezza are already underway in the country from INR 21,000 and the model will go on sale through the regular dealers of Maruti Suzuki. After six long months of testing and a delay of almost a year, the Vitara Brezza was finally able to hit the showrooms. The official website of the Maruti Vitara Brezza had gone live, much ahead of its launch today.

Vitara Brezza, along with its rival the Ford EcoSport Facelift, made its first appearance at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Both Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport were expected to launch in early 2016. Ford Ecosport launched in India on schedule, whereas Vitara Brezza is facing long delays. Codenamed XA Alpha, Vitara Brezza is Maruti-Suzuki's answer to Ford's EcoSport. The company had been working very hard to get everything right with this car, as the company is afraid that the car may lose out on the EcoSport. Already a bestseller the EcoSport facelift is more advanced and good looking than the present version.

On the exterior, based on the Suzuki iV-4  Vitara concept, the compact SUV has an aggressive front grille, muscular bumper with wide air-vents and a pair of fog lamps with U-shaped chrome surrounds, prominent ridges on the bonnet which adds to the dynamic look of the car, large 4-spoke steel wheels, roof mounted spoiler and an L-shaped rear tail-lamps with a sporty rear bumper. Vitara Brezza measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. Inside, the car looks quite similar to the Swift hatchback, with black dual tone interiors, the car has a spacious cabin with enough head and leg room. All in all, the interiors aren't as impressive as we expected but still good enough considering its a sub 10 lakh car.

Under the hood, the Vitara Brezza comes equipped with a 1.3 litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged DDiS diesel engine which when coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox, produces 90bhp of maximum power @ 4,000 rpm and 200Nm of peak torque @ 1750 rpm.  The Vitara Brezza diesel fuel economy is rated at 24.3kmpl. Competing against rivals like Ford EcoSport Facelift and Mahindra KUV100, the Vitara Brezza, lacks the grunt which a true SUV should have. The made-in-India Vitara Brezza will also be exported to other markets, including Asia, Latin America and Africa.
