Skoda officially unveiled the new Citigo, this new hatchback by Skoda looks surprisingly similar to the Volkswagen Up. After getting a good response from the European car market, the company has now finally decided to launch the car in India, which can happen anytime in August. This 5-door hatchback with a price tag of Rs 4.5 lac has not been modified for Indian roads yet and with not much time left for its expected launch in August, we don't think Skoda will think about any modifications. If everything goes well, the car could be manufactured at Skoda's Aurangabad Manufacturing unit.
Speaking about the car's exteriors, the compact hatchback sports a wing-shaped front grille flanked by swept back headlamps, body colored front bumper with large wing shaped air vents and 8-spoke alloy wheel imparts a youthful feel to the car also adding to its youthful feel is the aerodynamically shaped front fascia with a large windshield. The car measures 3.563m long, 1.645m wide, stands 1.478m tall and has a wheelbase 2.420m wide.
Inside, the car is surprisingly spacious and comfortable, and despite its small size offers enough head and leg room. With dual tone plush interiors the car offers a boot space of 251litre which can be expanded to about 951 litre. The car comes with features like touchscreen infotainment system and satellite navigation system. On the safety front, if the unmodified European model of the car is launched in India, the car will come with a 5-star NCAP crash test rating and will include safety features like ABS, ESP and airbags.
Under the hood, the car houses a 3-cylinder 1 litre petrol engine which will churn out 60-70 bhp producing a maximum torque of 90-100Nm. The fuel economy of the car is a decent 22.3 kmpl.
To sum up we can say that the car could become highly desirable as the car's looks offers a great mix of elegance and modern styling, quality interiors with spacious cabin, high mileage, 5-star NCAP rating and affordable price tag makes this a great value for money.
