In India, the compact SUV market is getting hotter with every passing day, and major automobile giants know that very well. With the increasing demand, every car company is working as hard as it could to bag the opportunity of improving their performance on the sales chart by providing what the Indian's want, that is more options in the compact SUV segment. Cars like Ford EcoSport, Tata Hexa, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and Hyundai Santa Fe are all set to make their mark in the Indian car market Mahindra is also prepared to give them a stiff competition by launching The XUV500 and The KUV100 (S101).
Codenamed S101, this much anticipated new car by Mahindra was finally launched in India on January 15, 2016. Bookings for the car has already commenced. The KUV100 (S101) comes with a price tag ranging between Rs 4.42 lakh - Rs 6.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune) and will be positioned below the Quanto. Offered in four variants - K2, K4, K6 and top-of-the-line K8, Mahindra KUV100's design is inspired by its larger and more premium sibling; the XUV500. The mini SUV is available in six color variants: Pearl White, Designer Grey, Fiery Orange, Aquamarine, Dazzling, Silver and Midnight Black.

Since the car has been launched after the launch of XUV500 facelift this mini XUV500 has been nicknamed as KUV100. The car was recently unveiled in a pre-launch event organised in Mumbai, at which Mahindra & Mahindra revealed all the details of its mini SUV – the KUV100. This KUV100 (S101) sports new tail lamps, high stop lamps, monocoque structure, best in class interiors, automatic air conditioning, audio controls, infotainment system, 3.5" display screen inbuilt driver information system, Bluetooth audio & Hands-free call, USB, AUX, steering-mounted controls, 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, Mahindra Blue Sense App compatibility, tilt adjustable three-spoke steering wheel, and height adjustable driver's seat and power steering. The car also includes safety features like 4 airbags, ABS, EBD and ESP.
Under the hood, this compact SUV is powered by a 3 cylinder 1.2-litre mFALCON G80 turbocharged petrol engine churning out 82bhp of maximum power and 114Nm of peak torque which is similar to the one that powers the Quanto, but this one is a little more advanced and an mFalcon D 75, a 1.2-litre diesel engine, that produces 77bhp of maximum power and 190Nm of peak torque. The engine has been coupled with a 5-speed manual or an automated manual transmission. This compact SUV gives a fuel economy of 23 Kmpl for the diesel variant and 18.15Kmpl for the petrol variant.
