BMW, the German automobile manufacturer, unveils the first official image of the new 2016 BMW 7 Series on its Austria's configurator, ahead of its launch on 10 June 2015. As per reports the company has no plans for introducing the 7 Series to the Indian car market this year. So, the fans of this BMW 7 Series might have to wait till next year for their dream car. Only after an official public unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, will BMW India give the green signal for the assembly of this 7 Series at their Chennai facility.
The body of this new 7 Series model, based on the all new '35 up' platform, has been constructed using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) which slashed a hefty 130 kg off the car's weight making it a lot lighter than the outgoing model. A lighter 7 Series will directly translate into better weight distribution, superior control and a faster ride.
On the mechanical front, this 7 series model features a revamped 3 litre B-series 6-cylinder petrol/diesel engine churning out a whopping 257 bhp, coupled with an 8 speed transmission box the 7 Series will provide improved response, fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emission.
The 7 series, which might come with a price tag of 2crore, is packed with amazing features, which includes BMW's iDrive connected touchscreen infotainment system with gesture controls. But that's not all, the main highlight of the new 2016 7 Series will be its remote control parking feature. This driver less technology can make the car enter parking spaces and garages, and exit them automatically.
