In this SUV dominated Indian car market, where every other car company is working on their new SUV. Big players like Land Rover and BMW have also entered the the game. Even Lamborghini is working on their new SUV concept car Urus. X4 is BMW's effort to outperform its rivals on the sales chart. Making its debut at the 2014 New York Motor Show, the car is expected to launch in India early 2016, around March next year, and might come with a price-tag of Rs 50 lakh.
Speaking about the car's exterior, X4 borrows the design language from its cousin X3. The car will measure 36mm lower than the X3, due to its coupe like slopping roof. The SAV or Sports Activity Vehicle, as the company calls it, proudly wears the trademark kidney bean shaped front grille with chrome surrounds and the logo on top. Flanked by elegant raised eyebrow shaped head lamps adding to the car's aggressive looks. The main highlight of the new SAV is a muscular front bumper with the XR badge and large air-dams along with a pair of sporty fog lamps. Swage lines with stylish C-pillar, a coupe like roof and sporty tail-lamps spice up the car's side and rear profile.
Inside, the X4 comes equipped with all standard controls and switchgear. A spacious and luxurious cabin space will welcome you as you enter the SAV. The high-gloss black dashboard houses the center instrument cluster with aluminium surrounds. Packed with a high tech infotainment system, a large LCD screen and climate control the car is sure to steal your heart away.
Under the hood the things get really interesting. The SAV offers a wide range of engine options. A 2.0 litre 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine which churns out 187 bhp of max power and produces a peak torque of 380 Nm, is one option while a 3.0 litre 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine producing 262 bhp of max power and generating a whopping 560Nm of torque. For petrol heads the car will offer a 2.0 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder xDrive28i unit producing 248bhp of of max power generating 520Nm of peak torque. An acceleration of 0-100 in under 8 seconds will bring a smile on your face as soon as you press the accelerator.
