The wait is finally over, Land Rover has finally launched the Discovery Sport today i.e. on 2 September, 2015. As promised before the festive season. The Luxury SUV has been brought to India as a replacement for the obsolete Freelander2. Since this a replacement, the SUV will be more like an advanced version of the outgoing model. Capable of conquering any terrain the Freelander2 was a beast. The only depressing thing about the Freelander2 was its design. Therefore, to add more appeal to the Discovery Sport it went through a major cosmetic makeover to eliminate Freelander2's depressing looks. The Discovery Sport costs around Rs 46.10 lakh and will rival the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz C Class in the Indian luxury car market.
Speaking about the exterior, the car resembles the Range Rover Evoque as far as design language is concerned. Proudly wearing the DISCOVERY badge above the front grille on the bonnet the flamboyant luxury SUV carries the trademark wing-shaped structured front grille, a muscular bumper with large airdams and sleek foglamps, elegant swept back headlamps, large 10-spoke alloy wheels and a beautifully carved out rear.
Inside, the SUV offers luxuriously large cabin space with grey interiors and premium seats, classy dashboard with center mounted instrument cluster with chrome surrounds and a 3-spoke steering wheel. Packed with latest infotainment system, multiple simultaneous charging facility and other impressive gadgets. This car is sure to steal your heart away as elegance reflects from every corner of the SUV's luxurious interiors.
Under the hood, the Discovery Sport will come with a power house inside. Equipped with a 4-cylinder, turbocharged 2 litre petrol and 2.2 litre diesel engine coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission box featuring stop-start technology, high pressure direct injection, low friction internal operation and smart regenerative charging for outstanding performance.
