Maruti Suzuki finally launched its much anticipated premium hatchback Baleno in India today i.e. on 26 October, 2015. Codenamed YRA and labelled under iK2 previously, the car comes with a price tag of Rs 4.99 Lakh. Baleno made its debut as a concept earlier this year in Geneva. Interested customers can book one with a booking amount of about Rs 11,000, available across all NEXA dealerships, following the commencement of bookings from 14th October, 2015. Baleno comes in 4 variants, namely, Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The hatchback is being manufactured at the company's Manesar manufacturing facility.

Talking about the exteriors, the car has an overall appealing look. Its has a stylish side look but not so interesting front. In the front, the hatch has a 'V' shaped radiator grille with chrome surrounds, large boomerang shaped air-dams, swept back headlight cluster design featuring projector lamps and LED DRLs. On the side, the car has sporty lines running along its sides along with a characteristic long and low roofline that ends at a rather steeply raked C-pillar, adding a pinch of elegance to the car's design . Coming to the rear of the car, (as you can see in the picture below) the car looks much more sporty from the rear than from the front, mainly due to the sleek tailgate. Adding to the car's elegance is the rear spoiler which is integrated with a high mount third brake light, giving the hatch a classy look. The car measures 4023mm in length, 1920mm in width and 1450mm in height along with a wheelbase of 2520mm.

Inside the cabin space is seen to have been decorated with all black interiors garnished with silver and chrome ascents. Along with that the three spoke steering wheel is seen to have mounted multi-functional switches. Talking about features, standard features that car comes equipped with includes power assisted steering, power windows, cup holders, dual front sun visors and accessory power sockets. While its mid range variants features aspects including driver's seat height adjuster, split folding rear seat, along with several other such aspects. On the other hand, its top end trims feature parking sensors, an advanced SmartPlay infotainment system, power foldable mirrors, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel along with other such aspects.

Engine:

Under the hood, the car gets the newly designed 1.0-litre BoosterJet three cylinder engine which produces a peak power of 67bhp and a max torque of 90Nm, for the Indian car market, due to its superior fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl. But the company also has another petrol engine, which is a 1.2-litre four cylinder K series petrol engine which is based on DOHC valve configuration and produces 83.11bhp of max power and 115Nm of peak torque and has a fuel efficiency of 18 kmpl. Also there is the 1.3-litre engine, which is integrated with common rail fuel injection technology, engineered to churn out 88bhp of peak power along with 200Nm of max torque. All these engines are coupled with a five speed manual transmission gearbox. At the same time, we can also opt for the AMT transmission option for the petrol variants. Additionally, its 1.3-litre DDiS diesel version also offers SHVS technology for improving its mileage to about 30 kmpl.
