2016 Toyota Fortuner Spotted [Update]



The all new 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been launched in Thailand. The car is expected to make its debut in India by July next year. The car proved to be a top seller by Toyota when it was first launched in August 2009 in India. By launching the refreshed version of the aging model the company aims to regain the car's lost popularity. The car is expected to hit the Indian showrooms by year end along with the new Innova.


Talking about the exterior, the car features edgy swept back headlamps with projector units and LED DRLs, a twin-slat horizontal chrome grille and a bold bumper with a wide air intake and fog lights along with 12-spoke, 17-inch wheels and a redesigned roof giving it a 'floating roof' feel. The interior of the car houses premium seats. While the side sports a sleek C-pillar design.


Other feature included in the car are reverse parking sensors, key less entry, Downhill Assist Control, Hill Assist Control, Active Traction Control, Power and Eco driving modes, Smart Entry, Push Button Start, Automatic Air Conditioning, Projector Headlamps and follow me home lights, also included in the car are safety features like ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Bounce Control, VSC, Brake override systems and airbags. The Thai-spec Fortuner also gets seven airbags, touchscreen infotainment system, rear-view camera, rear AC vents, cooled glove box, and disc brakes at the front & rear.


Under the hood, we might see a 2.4 litre turbocharged GD series diesel and petrol engine churning out a maximum power of 150 bhp producing a maximum torque of 400 Nm which will be coupled with either a 6 speed manual or automatic transmission box. With an expected price tag of Rs 22 lac the new Fortunner will be underpinned by an updated IMV platform, and will be built on the same ladder frame chassis as its earlier version.
