Mahindra Imperio launched in India

Mahindra and Mahindra today launched its much-anticipated premium small commercial vehicle (SCV), Imperio in India with a price tag of between Rs 6.25 lakh to 7.27 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Imperio has been launched to replace the Mahindra Genio and aims to target small business owners in the Indian small commercial vehicle market. Mahindra is offering both single and double cabin variant of the premium pickup which comes in either a base or a top-of-the-line VX options. 


Imperio, which is basically a premium facelift of the Mahindra Genio, promises to provide high-end product experience, best-in-class style, performance and driving comfort in its segment of small commercial vehicles.


Taking about the exterior, when compared with the Genio, Imperio offers better styling and design language, the front has been redesigned with a bolder toothed-grille, a newly designed front bumper housing a smart pair of circular fog lamps, a sharper headlamp cluster with integrated turning lights and wide air dam. Inside, the Imperio's cabin boasts of Mahindra's signature three-spoke alloy steering wheel on a dashboard which features two large AC vents at the centre.

On the features front, the Imperio comes equipped with features like Fuel Smart technology, independent front suspension, brake with LSPV, follow-me-home lights, keyless entry, and telematics compatibility.


The new Mahindra Imperio packs a payload capacity of 1240kg along tubeless tyres wrapped around 16-inch wheels. The pickup also comes with two drive modes - power mode and Eco mode which are powered by fuelsmart technology. Other features include bucket seats at front, tilt-adjustable power steering and 2-DIN music system.

Under the hood the new Mahindra Imperio premium pick-up truck is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder mDI CRDe diesel engine similar to the unit powering the Genio. The engines when mated to a  5-speed manual gearbox, produces 75bhp of maximum power output and 220 Nm of peak torque. This helps the premium pickup top 120 kmph and a best in class fuel efficiency of 13.55 kmpl. Via


Mahindra will also offer the Imperio in both BS-III and BS-IV options. The single cabin version of BS-III models comes priced between Rs 6.25 lakh to Rs 6.60 lakh, while the BS-IV version is priced between Rs 6.40 lakh to Rs 6.75 lakh, while the double cabin version's BS-III models are priced between Rs 6.60 lakh to 7.12 lakh and the BS-IV models will be offered at Rs 6.75 to Rs 7.72 lakh.
